Final Fantasy World -- Final Fantasy VII 7 -- Ultimate Weapons | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ultimate Weapons are similar to the normal weapons of FFVII, but they are a good deal stronger and are generally more difficult to obtain. Ultimate Weapons also have special abilities, that power up your character's stats under certain battle conditions. Most of these weapons also have the full 8 out of 8 slots, all of them being linked together, and give your character higher strength and magic. The only downside to the Ultimate Weapons, is that they all have an AP type of 'Nothing', which means that after a victorious battle, your character will gain 0 AP. Obviously this means that Ultimate Weapons aren't the best equipment for levelling up Materia, so you'll need to keep some of your old weapons too, (the one's with Double or Triple AP types being the best choices) as Ultimate Weapons aren't everything. Note - To obtain some Ultimate Weapons you nearly always need to have that particular character in your party to receive their weapon! (For example, you're trying to open the chest with Barret's Missing Score inside, however you don't have Barret in your party, so the chest will not open, but if you did have Barret, then the chest would open and the Missing Score would be yours.) Key = means linked Materia slots. O means empty Materia slot.
Missing Score Location Barret's Ultimate Weapon can be found in Midgar, near the end of Disc 2. As you are climbing up the stairs to stop Hojo from using the "Sister Ray", you will find it in a chest half way up. Make sure Barret is in your party beforehand or you will not get the weapon! Power-Up - Missing Score's power increases depending on the amount of AP gained from all the Materia equipped on Barret's weapon. (The more total AP earned on equipped Materia, the higher the power.)
Premium Heart Location Tifa's Ultimate Weapon is all the way back at the Wall Market in Midgar. In Disc 2 enter Midgar on foot and you'll see a man standing alone outside the Sector 7 door. Talk to him and he'll say that he's lost his Key while on a digging expedition. There's only one place to dig in FFVII, so it's off to Bone Village! Once at Bone Village, talk to the digger in the bone-building and select the option for finding "Normal Treasure". Place excavators in a circular shape around the top half of Bone Village, (up the ladder) and blow up the dynamite. They should then all look in the direction of the Key, (that's why a circular shape really helps!) stand in the place where they are all looking and select for them to dig. In the morning, open the chest and the Key is yours! But if you want to know where it is now, then it's near the destroyed plane in the ground. Head back to Midgar, enter on foot and go through the door to Sector 7. There are several places you can visit, but for now just head to Wall Market. When you're there, go inside the small building with the word "ITEM" on the front of it, (the one where the machine/computer used to shoot at you if you examined the screen) and investigate the machine (don't worry it won't shoot!) to receive the Premium Heart. Power-Up - The Premium Heart does more damage the more Misses Tifa gets with her limit break slots. (The more Misses you get, the higher the power.)
Princess Guard Location This can be found in the Temple of the Ancients, (late Disc One) in the Clock room, it's in a chest through the four o'clock (IIII / IV) door. As you don't have it for long, it's the only Ultimate Weapon that you can get in the first Disc, having just seven slots, instead of eight linked slots that all the others have. Power-Up - The Princess Guard's power increases when the HP of Aeris' allies is very low. (The lower your allies' HP, the higher the power.)
Limited Moon Location Obtaining Red's Ultimate Weapon is pretty straight-forward. All you have to do is head over to Cosmo Canyon in Disc 3 and talk to Bugenhagen (he's in the room upstairs next to his observatory). Bugenhagen gives Red the Limited Moon as something to remember him by, you'll need Red XIII in your party to receive it. Power-Up - Limited Moon's power increases the higher Red's current MP is. (The closer his current MP is to his maximum MP, the higher the power.)
HP Shout Location Back in Midgar, (Yep, Midgar again) at the beginning of the game on the 64th floor, (the one with the gym, rest room and locker room) Cloud, (if you looked) found a Megaphone in the locker room at the back, but put it back saying it was useless. Well, you've probably figured it out by now, but that was Cait Sith's Ultimate Weapon! Typical... Parachute into Midgar (late Disc 2) and when you enter the underground train tunnel, instead of heading up to fight the Turks, go down the tunnel, all the way until you reach a dead end. There is a ladder here, so climb up it and enter the Shinra HQ. Head up to the 64th Floor and search the lockers at the back, you may need Cait Sith in your party when finding the HP Shout, but that's not a problem as there is a Save Point on this floor. Power-Up - HP Shout's power increases the higher Cait Sith's current HP is. (The closer his current HP is to his maximum HP, the higher the power.)
Venus Gospel Location This is received in Rocket Town from the old man standing outside the Item Shop at the back (Not Cid's house!) after the rocket has taken off in Disc 2. You need to talk to him three times, he'll then give you the Venus Gospel. Power-Up - Venus Gospel's power increases the higher Cid's current MP is. (The closer his current MP is to his maximum MP, the higher the power.)
Conformer Location The Conformer is inside the sunken Gelnika, which is located near the submarine dock South-East of the Gold Saucer, you'll need the submarine to dive into the water there to enter the sunken Gelnika. The submarine is aquired during Disc 2. The Conformer is found in the first room next to the Save Point. Go down to the bottom floor of the room and to the left. The chest is very hard to see because there's a maze of pipes in the way. The best thing to do is to move around in the general area and keep tapping until you can hear the chest opening, and by then the Conformer is all yours. Power-Up - The Conformer's power increases when the enemy's level is higher than Yuffie's. (The higher the opponent's level is compared to Yuffie's, the higher the power.)
Death Penalty Location The Death Penalty is a tricky one, it's found in Lucrecia's Cave (or ??? as it's referred to in the game) in Disc 2 or 3, hop in the submarine to go underwater and through a tunnel South-East of the Gold Saucer (by the submarine dock and the sunken Gelnika) and surface when you get to the end. You'll be in a very small lake surrounded by mountains. (This location can also be reached using a Green, Black or Gold Chocobo, please refer to the Chocobo Breeding Guide Section for details on how to get these Chocobos, the lake is between Nibelheim and North Corel.) Land the sub at the dock and enter the waterfall. Inside the waterfall/cave you'll meet "Lucrecia" triggering some flashbacks about Vincent's past. There won't be anything else here for a long time, (in the later parts of Disc 2 onwards) so come back around the end of Disc 2, and lying in the cave will be the Death Penalty and also Vincent's level 4 Limit Break Manual, Chaos. You must have Vincent in your party to get the Limit Break and Weapon. Power-Up - The weapon's power increases depending on the number of enemies that Vincent has defeated. It even counts enemies defeated before you receive the weapon, so it should be pretty strong by late Disc 2-3!
