| Description |
The Songstress Dressphere is
an ancient Sphere that was once worn by a Songstress 1,000 years ago.
Using the power of singing and dancing, a Songstress bewitches enemies
or can raise the attributes of your party. As a Songstress has very
poor stats and lacks the attack command, so having a permanent Songstress
in your party is not a good idea. A way to compensate for this, when
you are trying to level up a Songstress for instance, is to equip
her with Accessories or Garment Grids that increase her defense her
enable her to use the attack command in emergencies (use the Accessory
'Bushido Lore' for a Samurai's skills and 'Sword Lore' for a Warrior's
skills or the Garment Grid 'Samurai's Honor' for a Samurai's skills
or 'Pride of the Sword' for a Warrior's Abilities).
Or you could always have her start the battle in a Songstress
Dressphere, then after you have cast all the spells that you wish
to use, you can have her change into a more suitable Dressphere, depending
on the battle.
Despite Songstress' many weaknesses, she has some pretty nifty
skills which require little or none MP, that include dancing to inflict
status ailments upon your enemies, singing to raise your whole party's
attributes, or more dance moves to sustain positive statuses on your
party like 'Haste', doubling their HP, reducing MP costs to 0, and
protecting your party from all Magic spells! However, a Songstress
can only keep one of these 'Dances' in effect until her turn is over
or if she is KO'd before her next turn, meaning that once she has
finished sustaining a spell, her Time Gauge will fill up and her next
turn will begin, so that spell will be broken. This only applies for
Dances though, a skill that is under the 'Sing' command, (i.e. stat
raising abilities) will last for the whole battle!
Another thing to watch out for, is when you cast a status inflicting
dance upon an enemy that is immune to that status, as your Songstress
will keep dancing regardless! So casting a Gun Mage's 'Scan' beforehand
can prove very useful.
A Sonstress is mainly for supporting your party around the start
of a battle, raising stats and helping with negative/positive statuses
for a few turns then changing into something else. Songstress' are
not particularly speedy, enduring or strong and they can't heal effectively
unless they use valuable items, so remember not to have one in your
party for too long, or you might find yourself in a sticky situation. |

Unlocking a Sonstress' MP Mambo and Magical Masque
As you can see above, a Sonstress has two 'locked' abilities and the only
way to get them is to find and aquire the Books of Magical Dance I and II.
Once you have obtained one of these Key Items, MP Mambo or Magical Masque,
(depending on the Book you found) will automatically become available to
learn for all characters.
As for aquiring these Books, look at the table below for their locations,
but please note that you may need to go to our Secrets and Sidequests page
for further information.
