Final Fantasy World -- Final Fantasy X-2 10-2 -- Dresspheres |
Introduction to Dresspheres In Final Fantasy X-2, there is a new unique system of equipping abilities, learning new techniques and leveling up. Along your journey across Spira as Sphere Hunters, Yuna, Rikku and Paine will collect many Dresspheres, Dresspheres are like 'Classes' each with it's own unique abilities. Dresspheres are equipped to a character's Garment Grid, (Garment Grids and information on them can be found in our Garment Grids section) from the Menu to be used in battle. At the start of every game, your characters will be equipped with a defualt Garment Grid and the following default Dresspheres, Thief, Warrior and Gunner. In a battle, when one of your party members has a turn, you may change Dresspheres by pressing and selecting which equipped Dressphere you wish to change into. However, as Garment Grids are normally laid out so that not every 'node' is adjecant to the others, you can only change into a Dressphere that your party member is currently next to, a bit like the Sphere Grid system in Final Fantasy X. Once your current character has selected the new Dressphere, a Sphere Change sequence will play. The settings for Sphere changes can be changed in the Config section of the Menu. There are three options, Off, Short and Long. However, if your party member is changing into a Dressphere that you haven't used before, the long Sphere Change sequence will play regardless, even if you have the setting to 'Off'. All three party members also have 'Special Dresspheres', (more information on these in our Special Dresspheres section) where each girl can change into a powerful form, sectioned into three parts. When a character changes into her Special Dressphere, the other two party members leave the battle field, to make up for this, each Special Dressphere has three parts which take their turns seperately. To change into a Special Dressphere, press during battle when your preferred character is selected, to acces the Garment Grid. Then press to see that character's Special Dressphere, then press to change into it. However, you may only change into a character's Special Dressphere when she has changed into all of her equipped Dresspheres. Which means a lot of transforming before you can change into a Special Dressphere. But to make this easier, when you get your first Special Dressphere, you will also get a Garment Grid called 'Unerring Path' which only has two adjecant nodes to equip Dresspheres. But how does that make it easier? Well, having to change into all the Dresspheres on your Garment Grid can be a pain, but for Unerring path, all you have to do is change into the opposite Dressphere once and you can access your character's Special Dressphere. This makes Sphere Changing a lot easier, but it restricts the amount of Dresspheres you can use. Finally, during each battle, when your party members perform 'valid actions', they each gain AP, (Ability Points) which level up her current Dressphere. Each Dressphere has a number of abilities to learn, with a select few already learned, so to learn these other abilities, you need to earn large amounts of AP. From the Menu, you can select which ability you wish to learn for each character, select Abilites then select a character. A list of all the Dresspheres currently obtained appears along with other useful information, like the current Dressphere equipped and the character's statistics. To change which character you are viewing, simple press or to cycle though your party members. Looking at your list of Dresspheres, select the currently equipped one to view the Ability you are currently learning and the rest of the abilities that you have learnt or that are available to learn. From here, you can see how much AP you have left to aquire before you can learn your current ability, which will be highlighted. Abilities that you have learnt will appear with a golden crown next to it. To change an Ability, simply scroll along to your desired ability and press . Now all AP will be put towards learning that ability. When an ability is learnt during battle, a notice will appear telling you exactly what you have learnt. Since the previously selected Ability can no longer use any more AP, another Ability will automatically be selected, so as not to waste AP. If it selects an ability you do not wish to learn, you can change it after the battle is over. When you have learnt an ability, usually one or more abilities will be activated on that character's list, so that they are available to learn. When a character has learnt all of the abilities on her Dressphere, a golden crown will appear next to it and it is 'Mastered'. After abilities are learnt, they are then available to use during battle, or in the case of White Magic, use from the Menu under the section 'White Magic'. Note: Unfortunately when a character learns a new ability on her Dressphere, it is only her ability to use and the other two girls will not learn the ability at the same time, unless she has the same Dressphere equipped, the same ability selected to learn and gains just the right amount of AP to learn it at exactly the same time, but I doubt that's going to happen. ^_^ Now that the basics are sorted, please click on one of the shortcuts below to access all the information you will ever need for each individual Dressphere.
