Click on an image and it will take you to that Aeon's details.
Aeons are the powerful Summons of FFX. Yuna is the only playable
character who can call an Aeon to your aid, which makes her an invaluable
member. Once she has summoned an Aeon all other Party Members
leave the battle field temporarily, leaving Yuna and the selected
Aeon. You then select the commands for the Aeon against your opponent,
remember that the chosen Aeon will be the only attacking Party Member,
(and has turns and abilities like Party Members) until KO'd or Dismissed.
There are three commands you can enter from the command menu when
you scroll to the right, Dismiss, Shield and Boost. Dismiss will send
the Aeon away immediately for you to summon another day. Your Party
Members will return and the battle continues. Shield commands the
Aeon to defend itself and take less Physical and Magical damage for
one turn, the Overdrive Gauge will not increase however during this
time. Boost causes the Aeon to take more damage than normal for one
turn, the Overdrive will increase faster than average however during
this time.
When an Aeon is KO'd, you cannot summon them again until you revive
them by touching a Save Sphere, (this also restores all Aeon's HP
and MP) but in the meantime, the rest of your party returns and the
battle continues.
Aeons level up as Yuna becomes stronger and can learn abilities by
using valuable items, these will be discussed in detail on our Abilities
page.
They also have their own Overdrives which they can use against your
opponent. And when you use Yuna's Overdrive, Grand Summon, the selected
Aeon is summoned with a full Overdrive! This technique is incredibly
useful against tough bosses.
Of course, every Aeon is completely individual with their own element,
stats and abilities, which is why you need the following detailed
information about each Aeon and how to get them, enjoy!
Valefor
Name |
Aquired |
Valefor |
Besaid Temple (Mandatory) |
Special Ability
|
Overdrive |
Sonic Wings, damages the enemy
and may delay their turn. |
Energy Ray, non-elemental damage
to all enemies |
|
Energy Blast, non-elemental damage to all
enemies. |
Description |
Valefor is the first Aeon Yuna receives
on her Pilgrimage. He is a non-elemental flying Aeon with very
high accuracy and good evasion.
His attacks work best against ground enemies, but Valefor's
accuracy also makes him good against flying enemies.
Valefor's non-elemental Special Attack, Sonic Wings, isn't very
strong, but it does delay the enemies turn, so you could use
it multiple times and the enemy wouldn't be able to do anything!
Valefor's Overdrives are excellent against most enemies and
are non-elemental, which can be a good thing. He also is the
only Aeon to have more than one Overdrive. Energy Blast is twice
as damaging as Energy Ray and is really easy to obtain! Look
below for more details. |

To break the 9,999 damage limit

Obtaining Energy
Blast |
When Yuna has joined your party, (before
leaving Besaid) go back into the village and there should be
a dog running around. He's usually in the far right house, (where
the villagers make their fabric) if not, he'll be running around
outside. Talk to the dog and you'll receive something mangled
and slobbery, great, what I've always wanted... But it's actually
Energy Blast! However, if you don't get it before you have the
Airship, then you'll have to defeat the Dark Valefor to get
into the village... |

Special Ability

Meteor Strike, damages the enemy

Hell Fire, fire damage to all
enemies |
Description |
Ifrit is Yuna's second Aeon. He is an incredibly
powerful beast, that uses fire as his main weapon. You may recognise
him from previous FF games.
He has a very fierce attack, and Ifrit's non-elemental Meteor
Strike can pierce any protection, be it phsysically or magically,
however the recovery is very slow.
Ifrit's Overdrive works well with most enemies, but you have
to be careful when against ice enemies, as they can KO Ifrit
quite easily.
My favourite thing about elemental Aeons, is that they can heal
thenselves with their own element! So all Ifrit would have to
do, is cast fire on himself and he would be cured!
Ifrit works best against weak ice enemies and strong fire enemies. |

To break the 9,999 damage limit

Thor's Hammer, lightning damage
to all enemies |
Description |
Ixion joins the group at Djose Temple, becoming
your third Aeon.
He is roughly based on a unicorn and his element is lightning.
Ixion's high defense is a big plus when your party is low on
HP, his strength is pretty good as well.
Ixion's non-elemental Special Ability, Aerospark, is a must
for bosses in particular. Aerospark causes medium damage to
an enemy and also removes any positive spell effects including,
Protect, Shell, Reflect, Haste, Regen, NulBlaze, NulFrost, NulShock
and NulTide!
His Overdrive, Thor's Hammer, causes massive lightning damage
to all enemies and, like Ifrit, he can cast Lightning on himself
that will cure instead of damage! |

Heavenly Strike, damages the

Diamond Dust, ice damage to
all enemies |
Description |
The gorgeous and mighty Shiva returns once again
as an ice based Aeon.
The Goddes of ice may have a low defense and strength, but if
you think she's a pushover, you're in for a chill! (No pun intended!)
Her evasion and magical abilities mean she can dodge most attacks
and deal plenty of damage. Her Heavenly Strike is definitely
one of the best Special Abilities, it causes non-elemental damage
and greatly delays an enemy's turn, so that Shiva could get
a possible three turns in a row and when the enemy eventually
attacks, Shiva will probably evade it!
Her Overdrive, Diamond Dust, is also a brilliant attack, the
finale being her snapping her fingers and the ice shattering
around the enemy causing serious damage.
Shiva's HP can get very low, so remember the elemental healing
technique (casting ice on herself to cure her). |

Description |
The fearsome Bahamut is back and stronger
than ever! Thankfully he's also easier to obtain!
Bahamut is the strongest of the mandatory Aeons. His Impulse
attack causes significant damage, but sadly has a very long
recovery time.
Mega Flare is a very powerful non-elemental Overdrive that causes
massive damage! Not only does Bahamut have strong attacks,
but he also has an automatic Break Damage Limit! Meaning he
can cause over 9,999 damage without having to do any special
sidequests!
Bahamut also comes fully equipped with all the elemental magic,
making him one awesome Aeon! |

Name |
Aquired |
Yojimbo |
Cavern of the Stolen Fayth (Hidden) |
Special Ability
|
Overdrive |
Daigoro - Kozuka - Wakizashi
- Zanmato |
None |
Description |
Yojimbo is the first of the Hidden Aeons, and
is very powerful, with an excellent evasion, however, he has
some rules...
Look below for more details on obtaining him and paying him.
Basically he will perform one of his four attacks depending
on how much you pay him and how high the compatability / motivation
is.
Daigoro - Yojimbo's small dog runs forward and attacks the enemy.
(Not very good).
Kozuka - Yojimbo attacks the enemy with three small daggers,
sometimes damages all enemies. (Moderate).
Wakizashi - Yojimbo attacks the enemy with his sword. (An excellent
attack that can do a lot of damage).
Zanmato - Instant death to all enemies including bosses! (Need
I say more?) |
Break Damage Limit |
To break the 9,999 damage limit
for Yojimbo, Auron has to receive his Legendary Weapon, Masamune,

Obtaining Yojimbo
|
To Reach the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth,
head to the Calm Lands. Once there, go to the North East part
as if going to Mt. Gagazet. Then instead of crossing the bridge,
go around and under it.
To the left should be a Save Point, Save and continue into the
ominous looking cave. There will be a cut scene involving Lulu.
Once inside, proceed through the first chamber, head around
the bend and take the first right to find a Megalixir. Go back
to the path and continue upwards.
At the next junction, go right and open the Chest containing
a Lv. 2 Key Sphere. Go back and continue along the main path,
when you reach another junction, keep going upwards to find
a Fortune Sphere!
Head back and take a left, when you reach yet another junction,
go left and look around for an Al Bhed Primer Vol. XXV!
Finally, head right until you reach a Save Point, Save, (preferably
in a different space to the one you usually save on) and proceed
into one of the last chambers.
You find the Summoner that Lulu failed to guard many years ago,
but she still hasn't been sent, so she haunts the Cavern of
the Stolen Fayth.
Of course, in her ghostly state, she's not here to have tea
and biscuits so you inevitably have to battle her...
See our Bosses Page for more on this battle.
After the battle, step onto the Teleport Pad and zap over to
the left hand chamber to find a Flexible Arm. Teleport back
and zap to the right hand room to receive an MP Sphere and two
X-Potions.
When you're done, head back and zap to the Cavern of the Stolen
Fayth to meet Yojimbo.
Talk to him and he'll offer to join your party... for a price.
To start, select 'To defeat the most powerful enemies' (this
lowers the price considerably) and then he offers you the price
of 300,000 Gil.
Then put in the price of 150,001, (half his offer plus 1 Gil)
he will then offer you 260,000 Gil. Keep lowering the price
by half plus 1 Gil, but don't go too low, or he'll reject your
offer!
The end result will probably be around 100,000 - 200,000 which
isn't too bad. Also, if at any time you triple his asking price,
he will not only join your party immediately, but he'll also
give you two Teleport Spheres! Bingo! |
How to use Yojimbo
to his full ability |
Yojimbo is definitely not your
average Aeon, he will only attack the enemy if you pay him and
once you've done that it depends on a hidden Motivation and
Compatability meter for how good his attack will be.
I'm not going to go into all the calculations and extreme details,
but I'll go over the basics and give you tips on how to get
Yojimbo to use his best attack, Zanmato.
For starters, be nice to Yojimbo, as certain things you do may
increase or decrease Motivation. Here's a quick list.
|
Action
Pay him 0 Gil
Yojimbo dies
Dismiss him without paying
Performs Daigoro
Performs Kozuka
Performs Wakizashi
Ferforms Wakizashi (All Enemies)
Performs Zanmato
|
Compatibility

No Change
+1
+3
+4 |
So obviously if you want Yojimbo to use Zanmato, do not let
him die, pay him 0 Gil, or dismiss him without paying! He won't
like it.
They are also other factors that are thrown in, apart from Motivation
and Compatability, there's how much Gil you pay him, what 'Zanmato
Level' the enemy is, if the Overdrive gauge is full, and a Random
number (curse you game developers!).
I find that the best way to 'level up' his Motivation, is to
Summon him in an average battle, and pay him exactly 11,111
Gil every time. This is a nice moderate amount that quickly
increases Compatability and Motivation and won't leave your
pockets empty.
Do this for around 10-15 battles and you'll have Yojimbo using
Zanmato in no time! And sometimes, if you're really lucky, Yojimbo
will attack the enemy for free! He might even use Zanmato!
Also, the chance of him performing Zanmato is much more likely
if Yojimbo's Overdrive bar is full.
So, here's the overall tips:
Don't...
...Let Yojimbo die.
...Ever pay him 0 Gil.
...Ever pay him anything too low (approximately below 1,000
Gil).
...Dismiss him without paying.
...And don't spend every single Gil you have in one shot, it's
a bad move.
Do...
... 'Level' him up a bit by going into normal battles and paying
him 11,111 Gil each time. (Doesn't have to be 11,111, but I
find it works well)
... Keep his Overdrive bar full, Grand Summoning him into battle
is a good way to do this if it's not.
So once Yojimbo has a good chance of performing Zanmato, try
it in a boss battle, by Grand Summoning him, (if his Overdrive
bar isn't full)
and paying him 11,111 Gil or more and hopefully it should work.
Zanmato even kills bosses, which is very useful against the
Dark Aeons. Though this can be thought of as the easy way out,
why pass the opportunity to defeat the harder bosses and reap
the rewards?
Thanks to all those superb Yojimbo FAQs out there that helped
me put the basics up! |

Obtaining
Anima |
So you want to obtain
the mighty Anima? It's easier than you might think.
Your first task is to complete a certain area so you can visit
the Temples again, as before the monks would not let you in.
After defeating Yunalesca in the Zanarkand Ruins, and you're
back at the Airship, talk to Cid then find Yuna and talk to
her, then go back to Cid and choose the location, Highbridge.
Once there, (you may recognise it as the area where you fought
Seymour) head along the path and talk to Maester Mika. After
telling him about Yunalesca, he will Send himself in despair.
After that, you'll be in the Chamber of the Fayth, you'll speak
to a Fayth, (the one who you see in the very beginning) and
he will explain why Sin is always reborn, and help Tidus and
Yuna figure out how to defeat it for good.
After this you'll return to the Airship. The second task is
to make sure you got the special 'Destruction Spheres' and received
the secret treasure from each Temple.
If you missed some, simply return to the Temples and unlock
the prizes, visit our Secrets and Sidequests page for more details.
There is one Temple you cannot re-visit, Bevelle, but you should
have got the treasure from there anyway, as it is mandatory.
Lastly, certain Dark Aeons may be blocking the entrance to some
Temples, so use Yojimbo's Zanmato on them or visit our Dark
Aeons page for how to beat them.
Go back to the Airship and speak to Cid, choose to input a new
location and move cursor around this area:
X Coordinate - Roughly 11-16
Y Coordinate - Roughly 57-63
When the cursor is in this area, press
to activate the location of the Baaj Temple. If this does not
work, move the cursor around the area and repeatedly press .
After you have found the location, select Baaj Temple on the
World Map. Once you are there you may recognise it as the place
where Tidus was dumped in the beginning.
Go northwards and dive into the water, make sure you have Stoneproof
or Deathproof Armor equipped and swim to the entrance of Baaj
Temple, in a north-west direction I think.
Before entering the Temple however, a familiar creature battles
you, Geosgaeno!
See our Optional Bosses page for more details.
After the battle, head to the east side of the pool until the
screen changes to another angle. In this area Lulu's Legendary
Weapon, the Onion Knight, is hidden behind the rocks.
Swim around and repeatedly press
to find it.
When you have it, head into the Temple, (where you just fought
Geosgaeno) and proceed through to the Chamber of the Fayth.
There are two chests here, one containing a Megalixir and the
other four Mega-Potions. There are also six statues in this
room, three on the left, three on the right.
Walk up to each statue in turn and they will light up, one for
each Temple. The last one cannot be activated however. This
is because you haven't found the last Temple Treasure! Zanarkand!
Note: If some of the statues aren't activating, apart from the
Zanarkand statue, it is probably because you didn't get the
hidden Treasure for that Temple. Also you can't get the Destruction
Sphere for Zanarkand Ruins without first doing everything listed
above.
So, off to Zanarkand we go! Leave the Temple and rise to the
surface in the pool. Head to the Save Point and go back to the
Airship. Talk to Cid and select Zanarkand.
Head all the way to the Temple and it's time for a puzzle!
This is basically like a tetris puzzle, but on the floor. The
object is to light up all the white tetris pieces to continue.
To light them up, you have to stand on the small stars in the
grid, but some of the stars activate coloured tetris pieces,
which you don't want. The order in which they are activated
does not matter.
To start, go up to the screen at the back, (without standing
on any stars) and press
to see which stars activate white pieces. Memorise them and
stand on the three corresponding stars. If you stand on the
wrong ones, the section of the puzzle that you are doing will
reset, so be careful!
After completing the first room, head into the next one and
look at the screen to see which ones to press this time. Stand
on the last four stars to activate a Destruct Sphere next to
the large screen. Pick it up and insert it into one of the two
spaces either side of the screen in the first room. The screen
with disappear to reveal a chest containing the Magistral Rod.
Take it and return to the Airship.
Once there, talk to Cid and select Baaj Temple. From the Save
Point head northards and dive into the water again. This time
there isn't a great big monster coming to attack you, so go
northwards in the pool to enter the Temple. Proceed to the Chamber
of the Fayth and activate the last statue, finally!
Note: If all of the statues are not activated, it means there
is a Temple Treasure you have not received!
Enter the Chamber of the Fayth and you will speak to Seymour's
mother, Anima's Fayth. You will learn a lot about Seymour's
past and receive an insight as to how he became so evil.
Seymour's mother will give you the power of Anima to stop Seymour
and bring an end to all the madness. So there you have it, one
seriously evil and twisted Aeon is yours. |

Magus Sisters |
Remiem Temple (Hidden) |
Special Ability

Overdrive |
Camisade, (Cindy) Razzia, (Sandy)
Passado, (Mindy). |
Delta Attack, incredible non-elemental
damage to all enemies. |
Description |
The Magus Sisters are another Aeon
that come from a previous Final Fantasy (in this case FFIV).
Cindy, Sandy and Mindy are a little difficult to obtain, but
it's well worth it!
Cindy is a general healer who mostly uses white magic. Her Special
Ability is Camisade; an attack which damages a random enemy
using Cindy's weight and size.
Sandy is the strongest of the Sisters, using mostly physical
attacks. Her Special Ability is Razzia; which attacks an enemy
physically using fire.
Mindy isn't a very strong Aeon, but she makes up for it with
her Special Ability, Passado; a devastating attack which stings
an enemy 15 times, causing plenty of damage.
When their Overdrive is full, use it to unleash the incredible
Delta Attack! This deals massive non-elemental damage
to all enemies, a must for those tricky boss battles! |

Obtaining the Magus
Sisters |
Before you start, you're gonna
need every Aeon, including Anima and Yojimbo. Once you have
them, you'll need the Blossom Crown and Flower Sceptre.
For the Blossom Crown, go to the Monster Arena in the Calm Lands
and buy some Weapons with the 'Capture' ability.
Then head to Mt. Gagazet and capture one of each enemy, including
enemies in the caves and water areas. Here are the names of
them:
Achelous
Ahriman
Bandersnatch
Bashura
Behemoth
Dark Flan
Grat
Grenade
Grendel
Maelspike
Mandragora
Splasher
To capture an enemy, the finishing blow must be done with a
Capturing Weapon.
When you have done this, go back to the Monster Arena and you'll
be rewarded with the Blossom Crown. If you don't get it when
you first talk to the trainer there, talk to him repeatedly
until you get it.
Once you have the Blossom Crown, head to Remiem Temple. To get
there, hire a Chocobo by talking to the Chocobo Trainer, (she
can usually be found south of the Al Bhed shop in the center,
at the westermost point and right of the entrance to the Calm
Lands) and go to the the entrance of the Calm Lands and head
right. You'll see a broken bridge, but don't worry, there's
a yellow Chocobo feather you can use to jump to the other side!
While on a Chocobo, press
near the Chocobo feather to jump across.
Once on the other side, go northwards to reach Remiem Temple.
When you are there, cross the rather long bridge and enter the
Temple.
You'll find Belgemine. She will want to test the strength of
your Aeons again, are you up for a battle? You will probably
have already fought Valefor at this point.
So anyway, battle all the Aeons, one at a time, and when Bahamut
is defeated you'll get the Flower Sceptre!
Here are the prizes you can get for defeating the Aeons:
|

Once you have the Flower Sceptre, go behind Belgemine
and use it and the Blossom Crown on the mysterious door.
You'll enter the Chamber of the Fayth and the mighty Magus Sisters
will be yours!
After you have them, you can battle Belgimine's Magus Sisters
and win Yuna's Moon Sigil, but after this is done, Belgimine
will decide that she has taught you all you need to know and
will ask Yuna to send her. Doing this means you won't be able
to battle her Aeons again, so think carefully before doing so. |
How to use the Magus Sisters |
Like Yojimbo, the Magus Sisiters aren't
as easy to control as you would hope.
You have to input indirect and vague orders for them to follow.
Sometimes they will not respond properly, so you have to be
careful.
Here's a rough example of the commands:
|
Command |
Description |
Do as you will. |
The selected Aeon will decide what to do. |
Fight! |
The selected Aeon will attack physically
or use her special attack. |
Help each other! |
The selected Aeon will cast healing and
supporting magic. |
Go, go! |
The selected Aeon will attack with magic
or skills. |
Offense! |
The selected Aeon will attack or use magic
spells. |
Defense! |
The selected Aeon will use defensive skills
and spells. |
What happened to you? |
The selected Aeon will use Drain, Osmose
or Lancet etc... |
One More Time! |
The selected Aeon will repeat the last move
she made. |
Combine powers! |
All three Sisters will combine their powers
in an awesome Overdrive; Delta Attack! |
Dismiss |
All three Sisters will be dismissed. |
Sadly the Sisters will not always follow your commands
exactly, and may use completely the wrong spell, but when you
select 'Combine Powers!' they will nearly always perform Delta
Attack, which is a huge relief! Note that Delta Attack is much
more powerful when all three Sisters have their Overdrive gauge
filled! |

details.
